Join us as we commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day. On June 6, 1944, Allied forces--more than 5,000 ships, 11,000 airplanes, and over 150,000 warriors--began Operation Overlord breaching Fortress Europe. When it was over the casualty count was in the thousands, but the tide of the war had been turned.
May we never forget the sacrifices of our Armed Forces who fought so bravely, may we forever be grateful that we live in freedom today.
"Remembering and Honoring" those that served and sacrificed from the "Greatest Generation" on the beaches of Normandy during "Operation Overload," the Invasion of France. Estimates of 10,000 brave men were killed in action the first 24 hours on those beaches and at the conclusion of the Battle of Normandy three months later a staggering 425,000 Allied and German troops had been killed, wounded or missing. Another 120,000 French civilians had lost their lives. These horrific losses taking place on a few miles of French soil in 3 months......a hand salute to our brave men and Allies, who sacrificed all for the freedoms that we enjoy today.
